Greetings from Dhaka, Bangladesh, a Muslim nation with a tiny percentage of Christian believers. It is in countries like this, often with small and scattered churches and a long history of opposition, that the work to teach, reach, and rescue is underway.
During the last two months I have traveled to more than twenty nations, coordinating projects that are aimed at inspiring and teaching a generation of leaders. This labor is in pursuit of Messenger International’s God-given goal to enrich and empower the church through the “seeding” of foreign language teaching resources. Entire teaching curriculums, electronic Bibles, eBooks, and printed books are translated and distributed in dozens of countries every year. These are resources that would otherwise be unavailable and inaccessible to isolated leaders.
Wherever I go I ask leaders, “What is your greatest need?” In most countries, particularly those that have faced the greatest persecution, I am told that it is for the training of new leaders who can disciple the many new believers who are surging into their churches.
It is reported that last year in China there were more Internet searches for “Jesus Christ” than there were for the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, and more searches for “Christian Church” than there were for “China Communist Party.” Statistics tell us that over 26,000 new believers come into the Chinese church every day! In countries like this one, there is surely great hunger for the things of God. By providing resources, we are coming alongside these leaders, undergirding their ministries, and helping equip and strengthen the growing church to face the challenges that lie ahead.
It is impossible to describe the joy in some leaders’ eyes when they receive a completed resource in their own language—many for the first time! In nations as widely spread as Iraq and Madagascar, India and Mongolia, Messenger International is strategically placing resources—often complete curriculum distributed by the tens of thousands—into the hands of current leaders and emergent leaders.
Over the course of the last month, translated resources have been released into closed nations such as Iran, China, Kazakhstan, and Turkey and across the entire Arab world. These resources are often clandestinely printed and distributed, many times at great personal risk to those who partner with us on the ground.
Distributors everywhere are channeling resources to large churches, small groups, and numerous independent evangelists, teachers, and itinerant ministers. In the last year, with your help, we saw nearly two million individual teaching resources produced and distributed, yet the work is far from over and there is still much work to be done. Our goal for 2014-2015 has already been prayed over and laid out: three million resources in over forty languages with printing and distribution in some thirty-four countries.
Teams of translators around the world have been working hard to prepare the Holy Spirit curriculum, which has already been translated and added to CloudLibrary.org in multiple languages. Cloud Library is Messenger International’s free foreign language website for video streaming and resource downloads. With over1,400 resources in 70 languages, this online library enables believers to download and virally share translated teachings with groups around the world. Through Cloud Library, displaced Kurdish believers; isolated Uighur, Afghan, and Syrian Christians; and diaspora people groups everywhere are given access to resources in their own tongue.
Amazingly, you directly impact all these countries and people groups. You, through financial giving and prayer support, play a part in each resource seeded, each church strengthened, and each and every believer who is inspired in their walk with God!
On behalf of the entire Messenger International team, thank you for standing with us, believing with us, and going with us to the nations of the world.
