SreyTut and her six siblings were orphaned when she was very young. Living with her older brother and his wife, abuse and violence was escalating, and SreyTut’s situation was becoming increasingly dangerous. IHSI intervened with approval from local village leaders, and moved SreyTut and her younger sister to Father’s house, where they have been living for over a month. This has also reunited them with a younger brother who was already in IHSI care.
SreyTut is sixteen years old and is in 8th grade. She is a beautiful and intelligent young girl, and we have high hopes for her and all of the children at the Father’s House. God is working not only in her external situation, but within her heart and mind. We asked SreyTut to share with us what has happened to her since moving to the Father’s House:
“My attitude is changing; before, I would get so angry at others and say cursing words about them. Now I feel loved by the staff and other children at Father’s House, and my heart is not angry any more. I have learned to respect others more, and I am learning how to be a good example. I trust the new family I have: they are loving and the room where I sleep is safe.
“I am learning how to love others, how to cook good food, how to speak, read, and write English. There also are Bible lessons to help us. My school work has gotten much better because I have time to study now. Before, I was too busy looking for ways to provide for my brothers and sisters.
“I really want to be an accountant in the future. Someday I would like to have a family, and I want to serve God for the rest of my life.”
We are so blessed to partner with you in providing safety and hope to SreyTut and many others.
