Although it has only been three and a half months, the new multi-purpose building in Cambodia is thriving and has testified to be a blessing to many.
Since its opening day, many new students have found themselves in the new building for english and Khmei (their native language) classes. Since the building now has lights, the english classes have been able to be held in the evening, allowing more students to come and learn. The program that teaches Khmei is aimed towards the poor children that cannot read and write their own native language. These class are held three days a week and the number of students fluctuates between 55-70 from day to day.
The reading room in the new building is in full swing. Books have been donated, allowing the shelves to slowly fill up. The children love to sit and read in this reading room because of its quiet, comfortable, and clean atmosphere. This has become such a hit that a time schedule has had to be made!
In the first church service at the new multi-purpose building, the pastor felt it on his heart to give a call to the unsaved for salvation. When the time came, fifteen new believers went forward to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior!
This past November, a new youth fellowship and pastor fellowship program began. The young staff along with many volunteers started having monthly youth fellowship meetings, inviting pastors, all the church youth, plus some youth that are not in any churches. The outcome was fabulous as the youth came together in unity, with worship, prayer, and fellowship. Feedback from the pastors included that it is incredible to see their youth learning the Word of God together and walking in unity. It is evident that God is being glorified in these monthly meetings.
This past Christmas the children did dramas and songs for the Christmas program that was held in the multi-purpose building. The church held a picnic after the program and gave gifts to the children in the church.
The multi-purpose building has also been a venue to highlight John and Lisa’s books that have been translated into Khmei. At these monthly pastor fellowship meetings, these books are distributed to the pastors and leaders. It has been shared that this is a huge blessing.
What’s so great about this project is that this is only the beginning! The fruit of having a new multi-purpose building in Cambodia can only grow. We see that through this project the kingdom is being furthered; a positive influence on the community is being made; as well as the generations changing to effect the outcome in the destiny of this beautiful nation! We can’t thank you enough for your help on this project!
All our love,
P.S. here are some more pics of the multi-purpose building!
