Sopheak and Ali are about to celebrate their two-month anniversary as husband and wife! We have loved watching their transition. This new season has led to increase in every area of their lives: Sopheak continues to teach, lead worship, and oversee Youth Aflame, IHSI’s youth service; while Ali is moving into a new role as head of Sak Saum’s newest Freedom Facility sewing center.
The Cambodian culture is visual and story-oriented. So when we asked Sopheak to describe married life, what was his answer? Two paths merging to become one. It is a perfect picture of the wedding day covenant and the journey that follows. And where does that path lead them? Our prayer is that they will always find direction in following Jesus as He leads the way.
Q: How is married life?
A: It’s good! I love being married, though it has some challenges too. It is interesting taking two single people and combining their lives.
Q: How do you feel like life has changed since you were married?
A: My habits are already starting to change. I have new responsibilities now, and I have more responsibilities than before. I also realize I need to speak sweetly to Ali: she loves that!
Q: Has anything surprised you about married life?
A: I am surprised at how much Ali cares about me and how much she helps me. I am so thankful!
Q: How can we pray for you?
A: Pray that we will love each other more and more and that we will choose God’s way. We want to say thank you for caring about us. We love to share ourlives with you and want to meet you some day!
