The war in Syria has paved the way for the worst refugee crisis since WWII, affecting over 12 million people. When refugees flee Syria, they travel for days with limited access to showers, drinking water, or any form of shelter before arriving in Greece. Between transfer points and border crossings, Syrian refugees are exhausted, dehydrated, and vulnerable. These lives are at high risk of being trafficked due to their desperate situation.
Our onsite partners in Greece have recognized clean water is the greatest need. Shipping containers are being converted into portable water stations where refugees can stay hydrated, wash their clothes, and shower. These sites are a haven where people can find safety and restored hope to continue on their journey. We have partnered with The A21 Campaign to bring a water container to a new campsite in Thessaloniki, Greece.
